Nazrul Islam Mazumder: A Visionary Entrepreneur and Humanitarian Shaping Bangladesh’s Future
Md. Nazrul Islam Mazumder, the Founder and Chairman of Nassa Group, stands as a shining example of how Business Success and Humanitarian Commitment can go hand in hand. Under his dynamic leadership, Nassa Group has grown into one of Bangladesh’s leading conglomerates, contributing significantly to the nation’s Economic Development. But beyond boardrooms and balance sheets, Mazumder’s legacy is equally defined by his unwavering dedication to Social Welfare.
Pioneering Efforts in Healthcare
Mazumder’s philanthropic vision is particularly evident in the Healthcare Sector. He has established two major hospital buildings in Rajapur, Lakshmipur, and Cumilla — a 4-storey General Hospital (built in 2007) and a 6-storey gynecology and pediatrics facility (launched in 2018), together covering over 22,600 square feet. These healthcare facilities collectively offer 100 beds, are staffed by 6 doctors and 79 healthcare professionals, and serve an average of 7,075 patients daily.
Crucially, these hospitals operate as non-profit entities, providing high-quality medical treatment and medicine at production cost. The initiative offers a lifeline to thousands of underprivileged patients who otherwise might not afford Medical Care.
Additionally, a specialized maternity and antenatal care center in Rajapur provides critical services to rural women, focusing on Maternal and Child Health — a testament to Mazumder’s focus on vulnerable populations.
Humanitarian Support for the Rohingya Crisis
When the Rohingya refugee crisis struck Cox’s Bazar, Mazumder stepped up with decisive action. He established and continues to fund a 60-bed hospital in Ukhiya, offering free medical treatment and essential medicines to thousands of displaced Rohingya refugees. His efforts have made a tangible impact on one of the region’s most urgent humanitarian challenges.
Championing Free Education
Mazumder’s commitment to Education is equally profound. He founded free madrasas in Rajapur and Lakshmipur, providing full-time education, meals, and lodging to 640 students. With a team of 25 dedicated teachers, these Educational Institutions are fully funded by Mazumder himself, nurturing the Next Generation with knowledge and values.
Seasonal Aid and Community Welfare
Throughout the year, Mazumder ensures continuous support to communities in need. During winter, he distributes 40,000 to 50,000 blankets, offering warmth to the rural poor. Festive seasons like Eid see him gifting around 50,000 lungis and 70,000 sarees to underprivileged families, spreading happiness and dignity.
Driving Social and Sports Development
Beyond Health and Education, Mazumder has invested significantly in the growth of Social Welfare, Education, and the Sports Sector. His financial contributions to research programs, scholarships, and local sports initiatives have helped build stronger, more vibrant communities.
Nazrul Islam Mazumder is more than a Business Leader — he is a symbol of hope, humanity, and holistic progress. His life’s work shows that with the right vision and compassion, an individual can drive both economic prosperity and profound social change. As Bangladesh continues its path toward growth and development, Mazumder’s model of ethical leadership serves as an inspiring blueprint for future generations.
